    SMTBDD: New Form of BDD for Logic Synthesis

    The main purpose of the paper is to suggest a new form of BDD – SMTBDD diagram, methods of obtaining, and its basic features. The idea of using SMTBDD diagram in the process of logic synthesis dedicated to FPGA structures is presented. The creation of SMTBDD diagrams is the result of cutting BDD diagram which is the effect of multiple decomposition. The essence of a proposed decomposition method rests on the way of determining the number of necessary ‘g’ bounded functions on the basis of the content of a root table connected with an appropriate SMTBDD diagram. The article presents the methods of searching non-disjoint decomposition using SMTBDD diagrams. Besides, it analyzes the techniques of choosing cutting levels as far as effective technology mapping is concerned. The paper also discusses the results of the experiments which confirm the efficiency of the analyzed decomposition methods

    Radionuclides ^{137}Cs and ^{40}K in the soils of the Tatra National Park (TPN, Poland)

    The paper presents the results of radioactivity determination of artificial 137Cs and natural 40K in soil samples taken from the Tatra Mountains in Poland (Tatra National Park – TPN). Soil samples were collected as the cores of 10 cm in diameter and 10 cm in depth. These cores were divided into 3 slices. It has been found that the content of 137Cs was the highest at the sites of the altitude over 1300 m a.s.l. The values of 137Cs concentration in the soils examined varied – from 55.8 Bqźkg–1 (dry mass) (417.8 Bqźm–2) for the Tomanowa Pass (1685 m a.s.l.) to 5111 Bqźkg–1 (dry mass) (8400 Bqźm–2) for the Krzyzne Pass (2112 m a.s.l.). In most cases, the values were lower than the average radiocaesium concentration established for Poland

    Shadowing is generic on various one-dimensional continua with a special geometric structure

    In the paper we use a special geometric structure of selected one-dimensional continua to prove that some stronger versions of the shadowing property are generic (or at least dense) for continuous maps acting on these spaces. Specifically, we prove that (i) the periodic TS-bi-shadowing property, where TS means some class of continuous methods, is generic as well as the s-limit shadowing property is dense in the space of all continuous maps (and all continuous surjective maps) of any topological graph; (ii) the TS-bi-shadowing property is generic as well as the s-limit shadowing property is dense in the space of all continuous maps of any dendrite; (iii) the TS-bi-shadowing property is generic in the space of all continuous maps of chainable continuum that can by approximated by arcs from the inside. The results of the paper extend ones obtained over the last few decades by various authors (see, e.g., Kościelniak in J Math Anal Appl 310:188–196, 2005; Kościelniak and Mazur in J Differ Equ Appl 16:667–674, 2010; Kościelniak et al. in Discret Contin Dyn Syst 34:3591–3609, 2014; Mazur and Oprocha in J Math Anal Appl 408:465–475, 2013; Mizera in Generic Properties of One-Dimensional Dynamical Systems, Ergodic Theory and Related Topics, III, Springer, Berlin, 1992; Odani in Proc Am Math Soc 110:281–284, 1990; Pilyugin and Plamenevskaya in Topol Appl 97:253–266, 1999; and Yano in J Fac Sci Univ Tokyo Sect IA Math 34:51-55, 1987) for both homeomorphisms and continuous maps of compact manifolds, including (in particular) an interval and a circle, which are the simplest examples of one-dimensional continua.     Usefulness of optical coherence tomography in the assessment of atherosclerotic culprit lesions in acute coronary syndromes. Comparison with intravascular ultrasound and virtual histology

    In this paper, we present a case of a female patient with clinically unstable angina pectoris and a bordeline stenosis in the proximal segment of the left anterior descending coronary artery as assessed by coronary angiography and intravascular ultrasound. Virtual histology revealed morphological criteria of a vulnerable plaque forming the culprit lesion. Optical coherence tomography visualized both fibrous cap fracture and a significant stenosis of a coronary artery caused by soft structures identified as mural thrombus covering the plaque surface. The image of atherosclerotic plaque obtained by optical coherence tomography enabled explanation of the cause of coronary instability and influenced subsequent management. The presented case illustrates usefulness of optical coherence tomography as an imaging method complementary to virtual histology and intravascular ultrasound in the diagnostic evaluation of selected patients with acute coronary syndromes. Application of optical coherence tomography in the assessment of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques is discussed as related to the presented case

    A Note on Efficient Computation of All Abelian Periods in a String

    We derive a simple efficient algorithm for Abelian periods knowing all Abelian squares in a string. An efficient algorithm for the latter problem was given by Cummings and Smyth in 1997. By the way we show an alternative algorithm for Abelian squares. We also obtain a linear time algorithm finding all `long' Abelian periods. The aim of the paper is a (new) reduction of the problem of all Abelian periods to that of (already solved) all Abelian squares which provides new insight into both connected problems

    Structural Analysis of Slender Glass Panel Subjected to Static and Impact Loading

    Slender glass panels are widely used as storefronts and indoor separating walls in shopping malls and public buildings. To ensure that the design and construction is technically safe for general use and that it meets current and accepted technical standards, in-situ testing is required by the building administrator or authorities. A case study was performed of an indoor glass lantern in a public building made from slender two-side supported glass panels with a complex geometry. It provides structural assessments and results of in-situ experiments including static loading and soft body impact test. Results from numerical simulations of impact loading on the glass panels complementing the experimental results are also presented. The in-situ testing proved that the structural design meets current standards regarding the static loading. The soft body impact test proved the safety of the intact panel and the panel with one ply deliberately broken. The numerical study showed that, for a more complicated geometry, the stress distribution can dramatically change over time and that stress concentrations can develop at certain locations at a late stage in the impact history

    Coronary artery aneurysm after implantation of an endothelial progenitor cell capturing stent

    The GenousTM stent coated with anti-CD34 antibodies has been designed to accelerate healing of the vessel by attracting circulating endothelial progenitor cells. Rapid restoration of a functional endothelial layer with a full coverage of the stent struts aims to minimise arterial injury after coronary stenting and to prevent thrombus formation and neointima proliferation. We report a case of a 56 year-old man who developed a coronary artery aneurysm after the implantation of a GenousTM stent due to an edge restenosis in sirolimus-eluting stent. We present diagnostics of our patient with the application of intravascular ultrasound and coronary computed tomography angiography, discuss his management, and hypothesise about the pathomechanism of aneurysm formation
